Sono state girate il 30 luglio durante l'investitura del nuovo presidente iraniano Massoud Pezeshkian. Ismail Haniyeh aveva 62 anni ed era a capo dell'ala politica di Hamas, che ne ha anche una militare: era quindi il volto dell'organizzazione estremista palestinese nel mondo. Era stato anche primo ministro dell'Autorità nazionale palestinese dal 2006 al 2007. La sua vita era stata segnata dal conflitto arabo-palestinese: era nato durante l'occupazione egiziana della Striscia in un campo profughi, dove la famiglia si era rifugiata dopo l'esodo palestinese in seguito alla nascita di Israele nel 1948. Aveva studiato nelle scuole dall'UNWRA, laureato in lingua e letteratura araba presso l'Università islamica di Gaza, sposato e padre di 13 figli. Era stato più volte arrestato da Israele, deportato in Libano; da anni viveva in Qatar. La sua figura era considerata fra i volti meno estremisti di Hamas; ha avuto, e aveva tuttora, un ruolo centrale nelle negoziazioni per un cessate il fuoco a Gaza, partecipando anche di persona agli incontri con le delegazioni israeliane.
